Hindsight Games

The Footnotes

The stories behind the things we take for granted.

For people who read the footnotes, ask one more question, and occasionally stop to wonder how any of this works at all.

What is this?

The Footnotes is a collection of short, visual explainers about the everyday systems that make modern life feel almost magical: electricity, the internet, GPS, airplanes, clean water, batteries, smoke detectors, and more.

The goal is not to turn Hindsight Games into homework. It is to make curiosity feel fun.

How does GPS know where you are?

Your phone finds itself using satellites, atomic clocks, and a little help from Einstein. It works every time. That is remarkable.

Why it belongs here

Hindsight Games has always been for people who like knowing a little more — the context, the clue, the story behind the answer. The Footnotes is that same instinct pointed at the modern world.
